Went back on another Hocking Hills trip this year back in July, this time with my friend and all her family. We were there for 3 days. I seen a couple of the same things from my last trip here, but visited some new places too. We all drove in 4 separate cars to get there; the one I was in was a Pontiac with a very large amount of miles on it and the air bags were hanging out; I was surprised we made it up there. We all met at the cabin we were going to be staying in. The cabin was very nice and was located back in a forest area with nobody else around; you had to drive on this dirt road for a little until you reached it. The cabin had a lot of rooms, a pool table, and a hot tub! After checking out the cabin a group of us decided to walk around the area. We found an abandoned horse stable and miles of electric wire that produced buzzing sounds.
After everyone got to the cabin, we headed out to Old Man's Cave to hike and check out the cave and some waterfalls. After that we headed back to the cabin. The car leading the way got lost so another car took charge. Their GPS led us to a road named "Pleasant Road", which was the total opposite of that. We were driving down that small dirt and rock road for a while, going very slow because the Pontiac was making very loud noises that made it sound like we were dragging along car parts. It soon got very dark and everyone was scared. Then this guy in a jeep starts driving toward us in the opposite direction, so we all had to go a little off the road to fit both cars. Our last car was stopped behind us so we thought they got stuck, but the guy from the jeep had gotten out to tell them that up ahead there was a huge hole in the road that our cars wouldn't make it past. So we each had to take turns turning our cars around on the small road. To one side of the road there were trees and bushes, and on the other side the land sloped down hill. We eventually made it off of Pleasant Road safely and got back to the cabin. That was one of the most scary experiences of my life. It didn't make it any better that on the way home we seen someone holding a shot gun and a chicken by a fire doing some sort of sacrifice. There are some odd locals here. That night we had a bonfire and chilled in the hot tub; well needed after the crazy night we had!
On day 2 we visited Rock House (where I was more daring than last time and got out on the edge of a cliff for a quick picture), then went to a beach. I didn't even know that there was a beach in Hocking Hills, but it was beautiful. In the water it felt so open. After swimming at the beach we went on another hike at Cantwell Cliffs, which I had never been to before. It was a very cool place with nice views. That night we went in the hot tub again and told ghost stories by the fire. All of a sudden we start hearing these loud noises like a leash or chain coming from the forest. We knew there wasn't anybody near us so it freaked us out and we went inside. Some people said they heard coyotes at night too.
Day 3 we decided to go on one more hike at Conkle's Hollow. The GPS took us to some random event hall that had a small creepy door out back that looked like a trolls house. We weren't exactly sure how to get to the actual trail so we went down the hill into the forest until we reached what looked like a dirt path. This did end up being the trail that went all the way around the top of Conkle's hollow, which was very high up. On my first trip to Conkle's Hollow I took the low and easy route, this was the extra long extra hard way. While I did get to see some amazing views from up there, this hike was extreme and at some points I struggled. It was very hot on that day which didn't help. once we got around one side of the top of the cliffs we had to go downhill into the hollow, then go up a ton of stairs to get back to the top of the cliffs just to go around the other half and try to get back to that event hall where we left our cars. We were on this hike for probably about 2 1/2 hours. Great way to end our Hocking Hills trip! With an extreme hike!
