Last summer my friend took me on her family vacation to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We were there for about 7 days and stayed in a house along the beach with an amazing view. Where we stayed wasn't actually located in Myrtle Beach, but in Southside Beach. We rented a golf cart to go places near where we stayed. There were a lot of people also on vacation all around us. The kid upstairs from us thought he was the beach DJ and would sing on his karaoke machine announcing things off his balcony, so that was entertaining. This was the first time I had ever been in an ocean, and I loved it! the feeling is so amazing! It was so fun jumping into the waves when they would rush toward you. However, one tip I have: if you're going to be wave diving, wear a one piece swimsuit.
Of course we had to drive down to Myrtle Beach to check it out. We visited Broadway at the Beach, which had a ton of stores, Hard Rock Cafe, and Ripley's Aquarium. We did a little shopping and walking around, then ate dinner. Hard Rock Cafe was such a cool place, inside & out! The outside was like an Egyptian Pyramid, and on the inside they played old school songs with the music videos showing. Some of the other places we ate at were a 120 item Chinese buffet and Crabby Mikes, which was a giant seafood buffet. After our time at Broadway at the Beach we went to a really cool and trippy mirror maze that was in downtown Myrtle Beach.
Being on the beach at night was a great experience. Some people set off fireworks, the moon was orange for a couple of nights, and we got some great pictures! The pool downstairs was also fun at night because it was usually only us in it. My friend bought this waterproof phone holder and we thought it would be a good idea to record each other underwater with her phone in this case. We soon found out that the case was just water resistant, not waterproof, after her phone wouldn't turn on. We put it in some rice and it started working again, but now we have a funny story to tell and we got some cool videos out of it. In one of the videos you can hear the phone breaking; it makes a super loud sound and we laughed so hard when we watched it.
Myrtle Beach is a great vacation spot; I recommend going here if it's your first time being in an ocean. There's a lot of places for shopping and eating. After going here, I miss the ocean a lot. I always want to go back. Made some great memories here with my friend and her sisters.
