There are so many different things you can see and do when you're in a place, whether it's near or far from home...
1. Learn more about it
Sometimes learning can be fun. Check out local museums to learn some history. Take language classes to be able to speak to and understand the locals, while also feeling cooler now that you know multiple languages. Go on historical, scenic, food, or any type of tour really. Whether it's with a group or you have your own personal guide, tours are a great way to experience a place (especially when you're traveling on your own).
2. Popular landmarks & historical sites
Try to see as much of these as you can. Not only could you discover something amazing, but you can also learn about the history of the place you're visiting.
3. Visit the parks, gardens, & beaches
Parks, gardens, & beaches offer beautiful views no matter where you are. Some parks might even have fun activities like horseback riding and zip lining. If you're in a hot climate or it's summer then going to the beach to cool off would be a great idea.
4. Cultural activities
It's fun to experience cultural activities when you're traveling like riding camels through the desert, playing a game of croquette in London, or Spanish dancing at a nightclub in Mexico. You can also watch shows and performances of cultural dances.
5 . Try new foods
Food is a great way to learn about a culture, meet new people, & you need it to survive anyways. Go to as many food places as you can while visiting a place, whether it be a restaurant, cafe, or food stand. Eating at local places is good for the community, and they usually have the best genuine food.
6. Go shopping
While traveling buy a lot of souvenirs to help you remember your trip or give as gifts to the people who couldn't come along. In many countries outdoor markets are popular, so you should check them out. Visit the malls that are around where you are, just to see what stores they have to offer and the people shopping there.
